CORE VALUES

We are guided by three overarching principles that we strive to cultivate in ourselves and instill in our children: love, learning, and stewardship.
Each principle encapsulates five core values that enlighten our understanding of life and enhance our efforts to serve.

STEWARDSHIP

STEWARDSHIP
Stewards are not owners: they are accountable for the wise use of their resources, whether time, talents, property, or money. We will be worthy stewards of that which has been allotted to us, and will seek philanthropic partners who do the same.

“Stewardship is a mindset that helps us to imagine the positive, lasting impact we can have together. It helps us…to look to the future and to think about our legacy.”
—Jerry Stritzke, CEO

GRATITUDE
By feeling and expressing gratitude, we more deeply appreciate what we have. We will express gratitude through both word and action.
“Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson, Writer

HUMILITY
To be humble is to recognize that our gifts and talents come from God, that we depend on others for support, and that we are only one element of a grand design. We will acknowledge our dependence on God and others, even as we reach out to serve them.
“True humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less.”
—C. S. Lewis, Author

WORK ETHIC
A strong work ethic is built on integrity, perseverance, patience, and wisdom. We will incorporate physical labor, intellectual labor, and labors of love into our work ethic.
“Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.”
—Pele, Soccer Player

LEADERSHIP
Thoughtful leadership transforms mere potential into meaningful change. As we collaborate with community organizations, we will lead by being good listeners, good followers, and good examples.
“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.”
—John Quincy Adams, 6th U.S. President

CARE
When we care about our work, our sincerity shows. Caring about others values and empowers them. We will demonstrate care in each undertaking and each relationship.
“I follow three rules: Do the right thing, do the best you can, and always show people you care.”
—Lou Holtz, Football Coach
